About This Wine
The
full story.Liska Wine Co. is the vision of Chris Butler and Draga Zheleva, founded in 2021 and named after their German Shepherd. After harvest work around the world and a shared love of German Riesling and cool-climate aromatics, Chris and Draga settled in the Willamette Valley with a singular purpose: to make wines from varieties that are climatically ideal but criminally underplanted in Oregon — Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Grüner Veltliner, Gamay. Each label features an original linocut print hand-crafted by Draga. The Heceta White is their ambassador of style — a vintage-specific blend named for Heceta Head lighthouse on the Oregon coast. The 2025 composition is 47% Grüner Veltliner, 21% Riesling, 19% Pinot Blanc, 9% Gewürztraminer, and 4% Sauvignon Blanc, each variety given different skin contact times during native fermentation. Aged 5 months sur lie in neutral oak barrels, hogsheads, and puncheons. The wine is a beacon of saline precision.
