About This Wine

The

full story.

Maison en Belles Lies is the natural wine project of Pierre Fenals, working from Saint-Aubin in the Côte de Beaune with a philosophy of absolute minimal intervention. L’Étrange — ‘the strange one’ — is his most unconventional cuvee: 60% Gamay à Petits Grains, 25% Pinot Noir, and 15% Muscat Chardonnay, all biodynamically cultivated in higher-elevation parcels across the Hautes Côtes de Beaune. The whole bunches undergo spontaneous carbonic maceration before pressing, then élevage in neutral barrel sur lie. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, with no added SO₂. The result is a wine of remarkable lightness and aromatic intrigue — Morello cherry, marzipan, and a floral lift from the Muscat Chardonnay, with a savory undercurrent and bright acidity that keeps every sip alive. At 12% ABV, it drinks more like a beautifully structured rosé than a red.
