About This Wine
The
full story.Il Farneto is a small organic farm in the hills south of Bologna, where the Laghi family has been growing grapes and making wine with minimal intervention for decades. Giandòn Rosso — named after a beloved local folk character — is their everyday red, a blend of Sangiovese and Montepulciano that captures exactly what makes Emilian wine so satisfying: it’s juicy, unpretentious, and built to drink with food. Ripe Marasca cherry, violet, and a whiff of iron and dried herb carry through a medium-bodied palate with fine tannins and a clean, lively finish. Fermented with native yeasts in concrete and aged briefly in neutral vessel, it’s as honest a bottle as you’ll find. Open it next to a board of salumi and let the evening sort itself out.
