Orange Cuvée Pét Nat

PétProject is the low-intervention side project of Foundry Vineyards winemaker Ashley Trout, made from Washington fruit with a distinctly playful spirit. This Orange Cuvée Pét-Nat starts with Viognier grapes from Walla Walla Valley that undergo a brief skin maceration before bottling mid-fermentation — the extended contact deepens the color to a hazy amber-gold and pulls out layers of dried apricot, tangerine peel, and chamomile. The bubbles are gentle and cloud-soft, the finish is dry and slightly grippy, and the whole thing has an effortless charm that makes it just as interesting to talk about as it is to drink. A great introduction to orange pét-nats for the curious newcomer.
