About This Wine
The
full story.Altre Vie is the négoce project of GianLuca Colombo (Segni di Langa) and Federico Scarzello (Scarzello e Figli), two of Piedmont's most respected winemakers. Inspired by the French négoce tradition, they source high-quality fruit from top parcels they'd normally consult for rather than own. The Dolcetto d'Alba combines grapes from two exceptional sites: half from Colombo's oldest vineyard, half from a prestigious parcel on the highest hill in the Barolo municipality. Average vine age 15 years. Elevation 320–480 meters. 100% Dolcetto. Hand-harvested in early September. Spontaneous fermentation in clay amphora. Six months of aging in amphora. Unfined, unfiltered. Biodynamic farming. The emphasis on amphora gives the wine an unusual freshness and lift for Dolcetto — vibrant rather than extracted.
