About This Wine
The
full story.Wonderwerk was founded in 2017 by high school friends Issamu Kamide (CEO) and Andrew Lardy (winemaker), who felt the traditional wine world wasn't speaking to their generation. The name is Afrikaans for 'miracle' or 'wonder work,' signaling a winemaking approach rooted in respect for the raw material: sustainably farmed California fruit, native yeast fermentation, and minimal additions. Wonderwerk produces at the Atelier des Savants Fous custom crush facility in Gilroy. 'Riviera' is part of the Italifornia line alongside Marinara and Al Fresco — named for the glamour and possibility of the coast. Made from 60% Pinot Grigio, 29% Zinfandel, and 11% Albariño from sustainably farmed Lodi and Clarksburg vineyards. Grapes direct-pressed and spontaneously fermented in stainless steel, aged 7 months on fine lees. Gently filtered before bottling. 11.6% ABV.
