About This Wine
The
full story.Monument Wine Company is a small project in Portland, Oregon, founded by Tyler Magyar after years spent in retail wine and moonlighting in friends' wineries including time alongside Andy Young of The Marigny. Tyler's approach is simple: make honest, thoughtful wines without adornment or shortcuts. Smithereens is an 80/20 co-fermentation of Muscat and Chardonnay, sourced from Rizzo Vineyard — organically farmed since 2000 in the Eola-Amity Hills. The Muscat is fermented on skins for nine days, the Chardonnay co-fermented with Sauvignon Blanc in tank to lend delicate structure. Raised entirely in stainless steel. Just ~100 cases produced per year, always quick to sell out. Low ABV, supremely delicate, and utterly itself.
